“Since the weather has gotten warm, we have near constant traffic of loud motorcycles, cars, and ATVs coming up Brook Street. These vehicles make excessive noise, both through engine revving and blaring music. They also often drive unsafely, posing a potential danger to residents in the area … These vehicles pass our house about every 5 minutes until late at night. The noise is loud enough that it sometimes wakes up my baby sleeping on the second floor of my house on the Brook Street side ….

I’ve also observed that these vehicles often do not stop at stop signs, especially the one at Williams and Brook Street. This is very dangerous for the many pedestrians (including children) who live in this area. I’ve talked to neighbors who have said that what we’ve experienced is typical of this time of year. We also have seen absolutely no enforcement in our area of either traffic safety laws or existing noise ordinances, despite this happening practically every night.

I want people to enjoy themselves, but this area is primarily residential and the loud revving / intentional noise- making / dangerous driving is a serious issue. I have lived in much bigger cities and have never encountered a place as noisy as Providence. I would like to Mayor, City Council, and Police Department to take action to address this.”
