The ProJo wants to talk to Providence residents who’ve called the police to report noise
Dear Community Noise Survey respondent,
You’re receiving this e-mail because your submission to the Noise Project's Community Noise Survey indicated that you have called the Providence Police to report excessive noise.
(Most of you are also subscribers to Noise Project’s e-mail list. A small number of recipients who are not subscribed to the e-mail list are receiving this message outside of it, and remain unsubscribed.)
The Providence Journal is investigating what happens when city residents call the police to report excessive noise. They’ve asked the Noise Project to help them find residents who would be willing to be interviewed, to better understand their experiences and thoughts about how the city government responds to residents’ noise complaints.
The interviews will likely take place early next week — Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, Sept. 4–6 — but the reporter may try to reach you before or after that. (Reporters’ schedules can change, especially if unplanned news events occur.)
If you are available on those dates and willing to be interviewed — and possibly* have your name appear in the Providence Journal — please contact us and let us know your full name, telephone number, and any days / times you are not available. Please put “ProJo interview” in the subject line. A ProJo reporter may or may not contact you, depending on how many interviews they already have or still need.
If you have any questions regarding the interviews, please use the contact link above, along with the same subject line, to send them to the Noise Project.
We urge Providence residents to describe their experiences of reporting noise to the police, in order to improve the way the city responds to noise complaints.
* The reporter will indicate whether they want to identify the people they interview in the story, and you can either ask them not to use your name, or decline to be interviewed.
Thanks as always for your continued support, and for your interest in making Providence a quieter and healthier place to live.
